Alternate Pathway Application Now Available

There is now a pathway for programs that do not have all three ACGME accredited residency programs to apply for a CAST accredited fellowship program in Neuroendovascular. To request an application, you can fill out the request form on the website or email cast@abns.org.

Like other subspecialties, there is once cycle per year that a new application

CAST Neuroendovascular Fellowships and the Match

Representatives appointed by the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery, the Cerebrovascular Section of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons/Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology have collaborated to initiate a Fellowship Match process for training in neurointervention. The application process will occur via the Electronic Resident Application Service (ERAS), and the Match will be administered by the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). 

It will be required that all CAST accredited fellowships participate in the Match. You can find out more information regarding the Match here.

The first Match will occur in May 2026 for fellows starting in July 2027.

Subspecialty Credentials

Fellowship Program Directors that are using a CAST certificate as the needed FPD credential that those certificates will only be valid through June 30, 2027. Starting July 1, 2027, you must provide a different credential such as the Recognition of Focused Practice Designation (RFPD).
