CAST offers accreditation of fellowship programs in the following sub-specialties.

Spring Cycle Application

This includes the following applications:

  • New applications
  • Renewal applications (as needed)
Spring Cycle:Opens on January 1st, Closes on February 28th

Fall Cycle

As of the fall of 2023, the Fall Cycle has been discontinued.

Annual Report

All CAST Accredited Fellowship Programs are required to complete an Annual Report application each year. Annual Report opens on June 1st each year and must be submitted by July 31st. Programs are able to request a complement change and/or site change within the Annual Report application.

Starting with the 2022-2023 Annual Report, the Annual Report will offer yearly continued accreditation. 5-year renewal applications will no longer be routinely required. New applications will be required if an Annual Report shows the program is not in compliance with requirements.

Pediatric Neurosurgery Fellowships are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pediatric Neurosurgery Fellowships (ACPNF) and all pediatric neurosurgery fellowship accreditation decisions are made by the ACPNF.

As of 9/1/2019, the ABNS assumed daily operational duties for the CAST Accreditation Fellowship programs pathway. The CAST committee continues to make the decisions regarding program accreditation with NESAC providing advice specific to program applications for Neuroendovascular surgery fellowship programs.
