CAST New Application Cycle
CAST has historically had two application cycles per year for new applications, five year renewals, complement changes and/or site changes. However, that is changed in 2023 with the sunsetting of the fall cycle.
The new application cycle will be available for program that want to apply for CAST accreditation once per year. The spring (new) cycle remains opens January 1st and closes February 28th each year.
The fall cycle that previously went from August 1st through September 30th has been discontinued as of the February 2023. Five year renewal applications will no longer be required starting the fall of 2023 as CAST is moving to continuous accreditation with the yearly Annual Report. As long as your yearly Annual Report is found to be in compliance, your accreditation is continued for another year.
Complement changes and site changes will be available in the annual report application, so separate renewal applications are no longer be required. Programs may request a complement increase once they have a fellow graduate that meets all case minimums and has the needed number of institutional cases. For instance, if you want to increase your complement to 2 fellows, you will need 2X the institutional cases in each category. For site changes, you will want to include the institutional case numbers for the requested site. All additional sites must be within 50 miles of the primary site to ensure the fellow is given the best educational experience supported by their FPD and core faculty.

All application fees must be electronic and can be paid online within the application. Do not send checks to the CAST office.
